Maize is one of the biggest cash crops in the world today. It can be used for a variety of things from food for humans and animals alike to fuel,and many other useful items. Almost everything you buy from the grocery store contains at least a little bit of corn(maize). That just shows you how much this plant is valued by our society. Its ancestor is teosinte which is a grass and is commonly found in mexico among other south american countries. It has true roots and is considered an angiosperm because it is a flowering plant.
